Aaron Hughes joined Newcastle when he was
17. He earned his first first international cap for Northern Ireland at
18! Hughes made his debut
for Newcastle at Nou Camp against Barcelona in the Champions League, in
November 1997. He went on to play mostly in cups. He finally got his
first league start and goal in the 8-0 trashing of Sheffield
Wednesday in January 1998.
Hughes plays as a centre-half, but is
also familiar with the full-back and left-back roles. Hughes is
definitely one of the hottest prospects in English football. |
